Job-specific Terms and Conditions · Auto Care Centre · 88 Maidenhead Road, Windsor SL4 5EL · August 2026

These Terms and Conditions apply to work carried out by Auto Care Centre. Each job type below has specific conditions plus shared general terms. A £250.00 including VAT ramp-release authority is included in every job-specific T&C where a vehicle is immobilised and the customer cannot be reached.

These model terms should be read alongside any written estimate or job card. They do not replace case-specific legal advice. Nothing excludes statutory consumer rights.

General terms (apply to all jobs)

  1. The authorised price covers only the work, parts and quantities stated in the estimate, quotation or job description.
  2. If unexpected work is found while the vehicle is immobilised on a ramp, Auto Care Centre will make reasonable attempts to contact the customer. If the customer cannot be reached and waiting would block the ramp or unreasonably delay other repairs, the customer authorises the minimum additional work needed to safely reassemble, lower, move or secure the vehicle, including essential single-use parts, fluids and materials, up to £250.00 including VAT. This does not authorise unrelated or substantial repairs.
  3. Estimated completion times and parts availability are not guaranteed.
  4. Parts and labour warranties apply only to items supplied and fitted by Auto Care Centre, subject to correct use and supplier conditions.
  5. Auto Care Centre is not responsible for unrelated faults, pre-existing damage, normal wear, customer belongings or problems caused by inaccurate information supplied by the customer.
  6. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable statutory consumer rights.

Job-specific terms

Select a service type for detailed conditions:

Diagnostic Inspection

Applies to diagnostic inspection carried out by Auto Care Centre.

Job-specific conditions

Diagnostic time is charged for testing and investigation, not for a guaranteed repair outcome. Fault codes are indicators and may require further mechanical or electrical testing. Intermittent faults may not be present during inspection. Clearing fault codes does not confirm the underlying fault has been repaired.

General terms

  1. The authorised price covers only the work, parts and quantities stated in the estimate, quotation or job description.
  2. If unexpected work is found while the vehicle is immobilised on a ramp, Auto Care Centre will make reasonable attempts to contact the customer. This does not authorise unrelated or substantial repairs; contact attempts and the reason for the work will be recorded.
  3. Estimated completion times and parts availability are not guaranteed and may change because of supplier, technical or vehicle-condition issues.
  4. Parts and labour warranties apply only to the items supplied and fitted by Auto Care Centre and remain subject to correct vehicle use, maintenance and any supplier conditions.
  5. Auto Care Centre is not responsible for unrelated faults, pre-existing damage, normal wear, customer belongings or problems caused by inaccurate vehicle or fault information.

Air-Conditioning Recharge, Diagnosis and Repair

These Terms and Conditions apply to vehicle air-conditioning inspection, recovery, vacuum testing, recharge, leak detection, diagnosis and repair carried out by Auto Care Centre.

1. Scope of recharge service

An air-conditioning recharge normally includes recovery of accessible refrigerant, evacuation of the system, a vacuum-hold test and refilling with the correct quantity and type of refrigerant specified for the vehicle. Unless expressly included, a recharge does not include comprehensive fault diagnosis, component removal, leak repair, electrical diagnosis, pressure-sensor testing, compressor repair, condenser replacement, evaporator inspection, antibacterial treatment or future leak monitoring.

2. No guarantee that the system is leak-free

A vacuum test is a limited test under vacuum conditions. Passing does not prove the system is completely leak-free under positive pressure, vibration, heat or changing conditions. Very small, intermittent or temperature-dependent leaks may not be detected. Seals, hoses, condensers, evaporators, valves and compressor seals may leak only while the system is operating.

3. No guarantee regarding how long refrigerant will remain

Auto Care Centre does not guarantee that refrigerant will remain for any particular period unless a specific leak source has been identified and repaired and a written warranty for that repair has been provided. Further diagnosis, refrigerant and repair work remain chargeable where refrigerant later escapes through a pre-existing, hidden, intermittent or newly developed leak.

4. Recharge is not a repair of an existing leak

Adding refrigerant does not repair a leaking or defective system. Where the customer requests a recharge without authorising full leak diagnosis or repair, the customer accepts that cooling performance may reduce or cease after the vehicle leaves the premises.

5. Payment where refrigerant is subsequently lost

Where the authorised recharge has been correctly performed, the charge remains payable even if refrigerant is later lost through a fault outside the agreed work. There is no automatic free recharge or refund solely because cooling performance later reduces. This does not affect remedies where Auto Care Centre failed to perform the authorised service with reasonable care and skill.

6. System condition and contamination

Work may be stopped or refused where the system contains the wrong or mixed refrigerant, leak-stop sealant, contamination, excessive pressure, damaged fittings, missing identification, unsuitable conversion, previous improper repair, or any condition that may damage the vehicle or equipment. Decontamination and specialist recovery are not included in a standard recharge.

7. Correct refrigerant and vehicle information

Only the refrigerant type specified for the vehicle will be used. R134a and R1234yf are not interchangeable. The customer must provide accurate vehicle information.

8. Qualified personnel and legal compliance

Work involving regulated refrigerant will be carried out only by appropriately qualified personnel. Work may be refused where legal, safety or equipment requirements cannot be met.

9. Recovered refrigerant

Recovered refrigerant will be handled, recycled or disposed of in accordance with environmental requirements. Refrigerant will not knowingly be released into the atmosphere unnecessarily.

10–16. Further system conditions

Restoring correct pressure may reveal faults not identifiable while the system was empty (compressor noise, leaks, sensors, fans, expansion valves, electrical faults). Cooling performance depends on the whole vehicle and ambient conditions. Temperature and pressure readings reflect the time of testing only. UV dye and other leak-detection methods cannot guarantee every leak is found. A recharge does not remove cabin odours or mould; antibacterial treatment is a separate service. Hybrid/EV systems may use high-voltage compressors and specialist oils; unsuitable products may lead to refusal of work. Ageing components may fail during or after normal testing because of pre-existing wear unless caused by a failure to exercise reasonable care and skill.

17–21. Prior damage, price, authority and warranty

No responsibility is accepted (to the extent permitted by law) for defects arising from previous incorrect repairs, accident damage, corrosion, non-standard modifications, wrong refrigerant or oil, leak-stop products or third-party work. The authorised price covers only stated work, refrigerant, oil, dye, parts and quantities. Additional work is chargeable and will normally be approved first. Where the customer is unreachable and the vehicle is immobilised on a ramp, the customer authorises minimum additional work up to £250.00 including VAT to safely reassemble, lower, move or secure the vehicle. Written warranty applies only to parts supplied and work performed by Auto Care Centre. Completion times are estimates only.

22–23. Limitation and non-excludable rights

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Auto Care Centre is not responsible for unrelated faults, pre-existing damage, latent or intermittent leaks, future refrigerant loss through an unrepaired fault, normal wear, customer belongings, inaccurate customer information, third-party interference, or losses not reasonably foreseeable. Nothing excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, the duty to perform services with reasonable care and skill, or statutory consumer rights that cannot be excluded.

Recommendation: Arrange prompt leak diagnosis where refrigerant has been lost rather than repeatedly recharging a system with an unidentified fault.
